NIL the Right Way - The OSU Way
Pokes With A Purpose (PWAP) exists to create & develop name/image/likeness (NIL) opportunities for all Oklahoma State University student-athletes. PWAP partners with various Oklahoma non-profit organizations and corporate brands to give Oklahoma State student-athletes the opportunity to showcase their community service efforts as well as leverage individual NIL opportunities to promote their personal growth and financial stability.
As a 501(c)3 entity, donors may realize a tax-deductible donation while supporting student-athletes through PWAP. Donors should always consult a tax advisor before making a donation. And while PWAP is not an entity of Oklahoma State University, we work exclusively to help shape the future of Cowboy and Cowgirl athletes through NIL.

NIL stands for Name, Image and Likeness. As of July 1, 2021, after the SCOTUS decision supporting a lower court’s ruling, the NCAA enacted their interim NIL policy. This allows college athletes the ability to earn compensation, endorsements, and sponsorships on various platforms using their name, image, and likeness. The money generated on compliant NIL sites, like PWAP, directly helps student athletes and allows the program to remain competitive in this new world of collegiate sports.
PWAP offers OSU student athletes opportunities to engage in NIL activations, including working for various charitable organizations and charitable events, as well as leading sports camps and clinics, doing social media marketing and promotions, autograph signings, clinics, making special appearances, and more.

No, PWAP is a third-party entity created to work directly with all Oklahoma State University student athletes, but we are not part of the University. The University is prohibited by state law from arranging third-party compensation for student athletes as it relates to NIL contracts.
Yes. PWAP members can denote what sport their contribution will benefit.
Yes. PWAP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit as designated by the IRS. While the IRS has recently put out an opinion that questions whether or not donations to NIL collectives actually meet the criteria, and until the IRS revokes the 501©(3) designation, donations are tax deductible. you should always consult your tax advisor before giving.
