The Xavier Benson Story.
NIL ‘wasn’t a thing’ when Xavier Benson started his college football career at Texas Tech. But when he transferred to OSU his junior year, it was at the forefront of collegiate athletics. Now, Xavier has graduated from OSU and is trying to make an NFL roster in the upcoming NFL draft.
But it wasn’t about the money for Xavier. NIL gave him the ability to support others.
“It gave me the opportunity to have guys lean on me because I was available to provide for them when they needed it, honestly,” Xavier said.
Perhaps there was no one more deserving than Xavier’s mom.
“My mother is the only income provider in the house – she worked two jobs, Xavier explains.
In the middle of football season, she lost her job at the orphanage because of funding issues, which drastically impacted her ability to provide for our family.”
“With me having Pokes With A Purpose and NIL, and having enough to help my mom pay the bills…it helped my mom have some financial freedom. I was able to give it to my mother and help her out of the situation.”
Great son. Great linebacker. And hopefully soon a great NFL player. And all done very unselfishly.
